Kahlid Elijah Tapia is an American actor who built his film career in Seoul, South Korea. His reputation & experience as an expat thespian made him a budding success in an overseas film industry. As an awards recipient & blogger, Mr. Tapia continues to prove that his time as an expat thespian was the most effective venue for learning the craft & business of acting. He is known for Jojakdwen doshi (2017), Haebangchon (2015), & Seu-pa-i (2013). Born in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas U.S.Virgin Islands to Ricardo Emilio Tapia, a life long maintenance man, and Melanie Rabsatt-Connor, a registered nurse. Since the age of 13 Kahlid was known for numerous community plays. As a young adult, he became most recognized for his portrayal of "Shoeless" Joe Hardy in the musical "Damn Yankees" in which he received the Best Actor Award. He attended school at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke majoring in public relations and continued acting with roles in The Robber Bridegroom and HMS Pinafore. In 2009, he moved to Korea to teach English and was noticed and cast by a young director in his first short film Bedwetting. In 2010 he was cast in his first Korean feature film Super Monkey Returns.

Kahlil Ashanti
Kahlil Ashanti began his career as a teenager performing in community theater and open mic nights at comedy clubs throughout the midwestern United States. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, winning the 1993 Air Force Worldwide Talent Contest which earned him the opportunity to tour with the elite Air Force Entertainment troupe Tops In Blue in 1994 and 1995 as a comedian/dancer/actor. This provided him the unique opportunity to perform for over 700,000 people in nearly 27 countries. After being honorably discharged in 1996 Kahlil performed his own magic/comedy dinner theater show at Caesar's Magical Empire, Caesar's Palace Las Vegas from 1997-2000 in Japanese as well as English. Upon his arrival in Los Angeles in 2001 he began writing his critically acclaimed one man show, 'Basic Training' which premiered Off Broadway on October 13, 2008. In addition to several rave reviews Basic Training recently became a NY Times Critics Choice and is in development as a book and television series as well as a feature film being shepherded by Kahlil Ashanti and produced by Barry Josephson (Enchanted, Bones).

As a director he has been drawn to the Pacific Northwest and shot his last two films on location in Seattle Washington. Kahlil is committed to directing films which tackle real-life matters, often focusing on the human condition. His films tend to favor the "art of story telling" over the showiness of movies. As far as new directors go, his style of story telling is a welcomed and much needed addition to the world of Cinema.
